Day of the Dead - Gravesite Adornments

The week before the Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, holiday, vendors of flowers and grave decorations begin to appear on the streets of Sonoran pueblos.

Traditional Day of the Dead flowers include marigolds, tiger's claw and mums, but vendors will have a variety of brightly colored blooms to adorn graves and altars.

In addition, handmade circular decorations made of ribbons, flowers and other items, will be sold in stores and along the streets, especially those leading to the local Panteon, or cemetery.

During this time, cemeteries will be awash in brightly colored floral displays and filled with people visiting the graves of their loved ones. See Day of the Dead cemetery photos.
